Introduction

The Montezuma property is located 1,380 kilometers north of Santiago in the Sierra Limon Verde oxide copper mining district and is readily accessible by paved and good gravel road from the city of Calama 20 kilometers to the north.

Claims & Ownership

The property consists of two groups of exploration concessions; Montezuma and Topater totaling 24,300 hectares staked and owned 100% by Polar Star.

Property Geology

The property lies within the central sub-zone of the main Chilean porphyry belt and covers about 20 km of strike of the West Fissure Fault System and associated sub-parallel and NW-SE cross-cutting ancillary faults. The hills of Sierra Limon Verde which cover the north and west half of the Montezuma claims generally expose the same group of metamorphosed Paleozoic intrusive, volcanic and sedimentary rocks that host the Chuquicamata porphyry copper deposits. The rest of the Montezuma claims and most of the adjacent Topater claims are covered by pediment gravels derived from the local hills.

Mineralization

A one day visit by Polar’s senior geologists was sufficient to identify several large areas of leached, hematite stained and sulphate rich caps containing minor amounts of copper wad developed along and lateral too the West Fault where it strikes through the northern claims of the Montezuma group. Several small internal claims held by CODELCO within the Topater group contain copper-gold veins of the type commonly found peripheral to porphyry systems.

Exploration History

There are no public records of mining or exploration activity in the property area.

Resource Potential

Exploration to date is insufficient to estimate resource potential however the property lies within the zone of Chilean mega porphyries, directly south of and covering 20 km the West Fault which hosts CODELCO’s Chuquicamata Mine with current minable reserve of 2,688 million tones grading 0.69% copper. Hence the property is highly prospective for porphyry copper deposits.
